Yeah, but what about ....?
A couple of friends who know me well have said they are going to have a question mark put on my headstone. By then, all my questions will be answered, so no big deal. If you’re here, you have questions. Welcome to the club. Those who don’t have questions are ignorant or arrogant. Embrace your questions and seek answers. They will lead to more questions with more answers. This is called growth.
When I seriously began investigating fulfilled eschatology, I was confident my objections would stand the test of scripture. I was right, at least as long as I viewed the text through the lens I had been given. However, when I began raising those objections, it didn’t take long to realize there were other lenses through which one might read the text and arrive at a different conclusion. The problem then became determining the appropriate lens to use.
Reading ancient documents of distant eastern cultures, using contemporary English translations, it turns out, is fraught with problems. I’ll deal with this topic elsewhere, but suffice it to say, it didn’t take long before I found myself confronted with answers to my objections which I had to agree made more sense than my previous understanding. Each time I received an answer to an objection, my response was, “Yeah, but what about ….?”, hence the title of this page.
Below, you will find links to some of the objections I raised; objections which you probably have right now. Take a fresh look at scripture from a different vantage point and don’t let the potential consequence of a different understanding keep you from accepting truth. If a new understanding means we have to make changes, then changes must be made; any other reaction is compromise.
More to come … stay tuned!
